VirtualSC is delighted to feature Todd Underwood in this month’s faculty spotlight. Mr. Underwood is currently teaching Biology 1 CP and Physics CP with VirtualSC, and has also taught Biology Credit Recovery, Physical Science and Forensic Science with the program. Located in the Pee Dee of South Carolina, he has twenty (20) years of teaching experience at the high school level.
When asked what he liked the most about teaching online, Mr. Underwood explained that he values the ability to make a difference for students who may not be successful otherwise. He also understands the impact of online learning for students who may not have the opportunity to take a higher level course that is not offered to them locally.
In addition to teaching at VirtualSC and previously in Horry County Schools, Mr. Underwood also spent a year teaching in Bolivia, an experience he says he will never forget. Following the completion of his B.S. in Marine Sciences at the University of South Carolina-Coastal, he earned his teacher certification through the PACE program and later earned both an M.Ed. in Secondary Science Education and an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from Coastal Carolina University.
Thank you, Mr. Underwood, for your dedication to the VirtualSC program, and the impact you make on the students you teach each day!
