Effective August 18, 2014, the South Carolina Virtual School Program (SCVSP) will be known as VirtualSC (VSC). While our name is new, our mission remains the same—to partner with public, private and home schools to provide a free individualized online learning solution for students on the path to high school graduation. We will continue to:
Serve students in grades 7-12 and Adult Education programs who wish to take courses for high school credit without a seat-time requirement and
Offer rigorous online courses for initial credit and credit recovery aligned to state standards developed and taught by Highly Qualified, SC-licensed teachers.
In addition, we will continue to provide free online test preparation to all South Carolina students planning to take the following national assessments:
PSAT, SAT; and
Advanced Placement™ Exams.
To learn more about VirtualSC, visit our new webpage, which goes live on August 18, at the following URL: www.virtualSC.org .
In addition, a new Student Information System, replacing VSA, will go live on August 25. New sponsor account login information will be sent automatically to principals who had students participate with the program in the 2013-2014 school year. Schools who did not have students participate in the program within the last school year can request a new VirtualSC sponsor account by submitting the Sponsor Verification Form (http://tinyurl.com/osmdwpq).
In order for students in your school to register for a new VirtualSC account, school counselor accounts must be created from within the sponsor account. Training on the new Student Information System will be available to principals and counselors the week of August 18. Specific details on training will be included with the sponsor login notification that will be sent directly to school principals the week of August 18.
Fall registration for VirtualSC will begin on August 25 for all juniors and seniors. All other grade levels will register for Fall courses beginning on September 2. Fall registration will officially end on September 5 for all students.
If you have questions about the program, please call 803-734-8039, or contact Bradley Mitchell at email@example.com. We look forward to partnering with you this school year to provide a quality online learning option for South Carolina students.
